July 29, 2022UIW recently announced the following faculty members as recipients of the Faculty Endowment Research Award and/or the Faculty Workload Reassignment Award.

UIW recently announced the following faculty members as recipients of the Faculty Endowment Research Award and/or the Faculty Workload Reassignment Award.
Assistant Dean and Professor of Music Kevin Salfen created a “San Antonio version” of the music collection Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias, a classic teaching text for singers. The process – from writing the new pieces to premiering them – was all captured on film for a new documentary called SA24 – Two Dozen Songs From Now. The documentary, co-produced by Salfen and Dr. Ken Metz, professor, will be shared with the local community at the San Antonio Film Festival on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
The UIW Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) Lab-sponsored outreach program, Girls in Engineering Math and Science (GEMS), is preparing to participate in a drone competition as part of the Digital Avionics Systems Conference. The conference, scheduled for the fall, is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Aerospace and Electronics Systems Societies (AESS) and hosted by St. Mary’s University.
